I didn't see you question before but it sounds like your dog is having either flea or allergy problems. Very common for this time of year. The smell is from the skin gettig infected because your dog is biting at it and licking it. It's called a hot spot. The more he licks it the more it spreads. He needs vet care as soon as you can get him their.

I'm sorry if this is a repeat answer.

What was the other condition? I'm sorry but I didn't get a chance to see your other post.

Sounds like he has what is called a hot spot. For whatever reason, they will lick, bite and chew at a particular spot until it's red, raw, and sore. The hair usually falls out too. There are a lot of reasons for this, so you should probably take him to the vet. It's typically not serious, but it should be looked at.

Your dog must have an allergy and needs to have veterinary attention. An odor would probably mean there is some sort of infection involved.

Well, it sounds pretty bad. I recommend putting vinager on it with a cotton ball. This will kill bacteria that is causing the itches, and once this goes away, you can use neosporine or an antibiotic cream on it. Good luck!

What are you feeding him?
