Skin conditions such as bacterial or yeast infections, seborrhea, allergies ( food, flea and inhalant ) and systemic diseases such as hypothyroid disease can cause an odor to the skin and coat, unaffected by bathing except if using a medicated shampoo for the proper condition.

A pathogen such as a bacteria could be causing that. Or, the dog could be rolling in poop.

She probably has either some type of bacterial infection, or a skin disease. Allergies will make an animal chew on their hair, but a bad smell signifies some type of further infection. PLease take her to a vet for treatment!!

Feed her Purina dog food.It's really good for that. and dogs spend more time being outdoors and active,so that's probably why they smell bad. and every dog has different skin,so one might be more stinky than another.And think how often you wash! If you took a bath every two weeks, you would be quite stinky,too! And we seem to not have a lot of time on our hands to wash a dog every other day too keep it not stinky. Every two weeks should be good for a bath.
Anyways, the dog doesn't care if it's stinky or smelly,

Several people here have good answers. Could be allergies, including food allergy (some cheap animal foods can cause problems). Could be dry skin, fungus, demodectic mange, sarcoptic mange (can kill).

Poor nutrition, a food allergy, dry skin, fleas or other allergies, all of which can lead to bacterial skin infections. Check her for fleas, if she has them get them off with a flea comb (don't use chemical flea baths on dogs with sore skin). Upgrade her food to the best one you can consistently afford (skip supermarket brands if possible, if you have no choice, Iams is better than the other supermarket foods) %26amp; go to the pet store %26amp; get her an oily supplement and a soothing skin shampoo (again, not 'Hartz' brand at the supermarket), something with lanolin or oatmeal. If these don't help, take her to the vet. Or it wouldn't be a bad idea to take her to the vet first, she may need an Rx supplement or antibiotics if it has gone too far, as well as something like "Frontline" if she has fleas. Good luck!!

Did you comb her coat regularly to get rid off her winter / puppy coat and flees?
Does she has skin desease?
Ask vet for suitable shampoo..maybe too much chemical? What type of food she takes maybe allergy with spots and rashes?
Do you let her play on the grass? Roll?
Divert her attention from chewing by giving her chew squeeky toy like Kong stuff with peanut butter! She will lick instead of chew n bite!

I would go to the vet and ask they put my pet on a recommended prescription dog food. It sounds like allergies!! If not, my mom's dog had allergies and her vet recommended Science Diet Lamb and Rice....when you do a google search on this food, it will tell you on the internet with many raving reviews about how this is the least allergic dog food on the market.
