What breed of dogs do you recomment that do not have a lot of hair, or no hair at all. I'm alle

There are two coat types that produce a lesser amount of allergens: single-coated dogs, who do not have a thick undercoat, and hairless dogs. However even hairless dogs can produce enough dander to to affect a highly allergic person.

Try finding a dog that doesn't shed.

Some breeds that do not shed include, shih tzus, poodles, cockapoos, labradoodles, etc (the last two are poodle crossbreeds...excellent breeds!). I personally have had great experience with shih tzus. Now, the thing is that they don't shed, but you will still want to use a shampoo like Allerpet, because it's the dander of their skin that you are most likely allergic to (well, the dander at least is a contributing factor).

Shitzus or shizu cross. My friend has one and her son has allergies. He is a great pet. Nice size to cuddle with. he is a bit yappy but if she had worked with him as a puppy she could have broken him of this.

Many people are allergic to the dander in pet fur. Poodles have hair, and many people find they're not allergic to them. Chinese Cresteds are bald except for their head, feet, and tip of their tail (just stay away from the powderpuff variety, they are decidedly NOT bald). Peruvian Inca Orchids (Peruvian Hairless) are completly bald, with smooth, warm, grey skin. They really are nice dogs, they just look a bit like hairless rats. And they are completly unsuitable for cold climates.

While no dogs are completely allergenic, some breeds are less likely to cause allergic reactions in humans. Poodles and most poodle mixes are good choices as they don't shed (and the mixes dont usually but this can vary by puppy per litter). Maltese, shih tzu's, chinese crested (smooth and powder puff versions), mexican hairless and several other smaller breeds are good choices. The problem is not with the hair but with the dander but dogs that shed less, shed less dander so it's relative. Good luck!

I know there is a breed of Poodle that is dog allergy friendly. They do not shed, and they do not get dandruff which people are very often allergic too. Also some **** Zu's are allergy friendly. You might talk to your local vet and see what kind of advice they can give you, or even your local animal shelter. You might try looking online as well.

Most of the dogs that require clipping are those that you will find to be more hypoallergenic, though there are a few that have shorter fur. Just be sure to tell the groomer to use a hypoallergenic shampoo when bathing the dog too.

I suggest a cockapoos. I'm allergic to dogs too. But with a cockapoo they don't have a lot of hair and they don't shed. I've had my cockapoo for about 5 years and I've had no problems. (allergy wise)

I highly recomend Italian Greyhounds.

My mother has very bad asthma and has always been very allergic to dogs and just about all animals. I wanted to find a dog that wouldn't bother my mother so much, so that she she would be able to visit me at my house.

I did a lot of research for about a year. At the library, on the internet, going to dog shows, talking to people. The one I decided on is an Italian Greyhound. We were amazed that he doesn't bother mom in the least. He can even sit on her lap! He is the only dog she has ever been able to be in the same room with. She loves him madly too.

I know that there is no dog breed that is really hypoallergenic but there are several that are close, which others have mentioned. Some have ignorantly mentioned breeds that are terrible for allergy sufferers.

The best thing to do is arrange to go to a breeder and spend some time around a certain breed and see how you feel. When you do decide on a breed, have a clause in the contract that if you find the dog to cause an allergy problem, the breeder will take him back and give a refund.

If you want a short haired dog, the Italian Greyhound is it!

Their hair is about the length of an eyelash. You can hardly see it around the house. It is very beautiful and easy to groom, just polish with a chamy some say. The fur is softer than any dogs.

They are toy dogs but do not have a yappy voice. They are elegant and loving and thrive on comfort. The elbows are kinda boney so they need something soft to lay on in the rooms that you are in. They like to be covered by a blanket and to have one of those dog beds that is tent like that they can crawl in. The breeder told me that it is a must to let him sleep in your bed with you. He is so clean and smells good so it is no problem. Plus he is my companion, I take him most places with me even on the bus.

Like the larger Greyhounds they are sight hounds and have evolved and been bred to get prey by running fast. They only need short bits of exercise and then they are couch potatoes the rest of they day. Very easy to accomodate. I used to enjoy going to an agility class with him. They are playful and very funny. My guy is the best pet I have ever had.

I would suggest that you compile a list of the recommended breeds, then contact a few breeders and ask if they would allow you to spend time at their kennel to see if you are allergic before buying one. A reputable and good breeder will have no issue with you doing this because they want their pups to go to a home where they will be best suited.

actually, there are several hypoallergenic dogs, many with hair...My bichon frise is hypoallergenic, it all has to do with the skin, not so much the hair.

  1. Check your local shelters, poodles are one of the most intelligent dogs and are rated safest around almost everyone. Grooming is an issue unless you are handy with grooming supplies. Research dog shampoos also. Watch Animal planet ' Dogs 101 ' they list dogs that are hypoallergenic, low or no shedding, activity level, high strung, low strung, the list goes on very informative. I've got a maltipoo and he is the best dog I've ever had. Weiner dogs can't be overweight, large dogs have hip dysplasia tendencies. Most libraries have books on dogs to find out the best fit for you.
