What is the most effective way of getting rid of dog lice??

My dogs have lice and I have tried every thing, bathing them 2 times a week in flea tick shampoo, revolution, advantage, Ivomech shot, louse powder, any other Ideas, they are still itching like mad and the dust is none ending comeing out from there fur. I even bought a microscope to see them under it and nothin seems to kill them, PLEASE HELP!!! I think it is the chewing lice because there hair is falling out and looks like crap, other wise blood sucking lice would be dead I would think becasue of all the treatments have been doing....

Sounds like mange sweets... and you are going to have to go to the vets to fix this...

If you have been to 4 vets why havent they given you something to get rid of it... are you cleaning the bedding and house so that they are not getting reinfected?

Take your dog to the vets. They can offer the best course of treatment. There may be more going on than just the lice.

But to help try using Sunlight dish soap.

ummmmmmmmmm. dogs don't get lice.

have you tried taking the dog to the vet? what did the vet say? if not take the dog to the vet. it could be anything from allergies to mange, to you name it. anything but actual lice.

stop putting 100 different types of flea meds on your pet over a short period of time. some of the dandruff is probably from that.

if you're not a vet you can't diagnose properly what it is, and how would you even know the correct dosage of ivomec to give? i'm finding all of this hard to believe, espeically where you put your dog under a microscope. get some help for your dog at least please.

EDIT: i admit i stand corrected. dogs do get lice. but not the human kind. and i did some quick research. dog lice infestation is very very rare in developed countries. it is usually found in developed countries with dogs that live in an unclean environement and are severly malnourished. so............i still don't understand why you have the microscope though.

try a veterinary dermotologist.

and try stating how long you've been fighting this and not listing tons of products and then saying you're bathing them twice a week in a flea and tick bath. i'm supposed to know?

but again i'm sorry i work and live in a developed area where i've seen just about everything a dog can have and be done to it. and never never never ever seen a louse on any dog.
