Any solution; home remedy, herbal silver bullet for cleaning a dog's dirty ears?

We have a Scottist Terrier that has the dirtiest ears we''ve ever seen. We clean them out at least once every two weeks, sometimes more often, but it doesn't seem to matter. They get caked up with dirt and ear wax to the point that it looks like they have never been touched. And he is an inside dog for the most part. I have never seen him roll in the dirt, so we haven't a clue as to how they get so dirty. Vet doesn' t have a solution. We've asked already. Is there anyone else out there who has a similar problem with their dog, and has found an herbal solution? The poor little guy shakes his head all day long, and is in constant misery as if some bug or something is crawling around inside his ears tickling the hairs. Any helpful remedies or input would be most appreciated.

Actually, over-cleaning can cause problems. It can stimulate more earwax... Best bet is to get an over the counter ear cleaner (make sure it's a No Alcohol cleaner) and a baby bulb syringe. Doubtless, the dog won't like it. But, follow the directions, and rinse repeatedly with warm water using the bulb syringe. Think of it like shampooing, wash rinse repeat.

This will remove build up and relieve discomfort without causing any irritation which might increase wax production. You can also get herbal "sweet oil" from most drug stores which is for relieving ear discomfort.

apple cider vinegar does work. my Rottweiler had the same problem and no medications worked.

Could be Ear Mites. A couple of drops of vegetable oil in each ear, and massage. Then clean out all of the "gunk" with a cotton ball. Repeat for 3-4 days in a row, and there should be relief. The oil will soothe his sensitive skin and promote healing.Poor Baby! Good luck!

.I would try to make some chamomile tea and wash his ears really good with this .chamomile tea is also very good for people.I have even used it to help clear up a yeast infectionIt .It is also good for Eye Infections.Try this and then tell me if you had any luck with this.

Ear mites.

Ear mites set up shop in a cat or dogs ears. When they poop the kick it out. This looks like a waxy dirt. Treat your pooches ears for ear mites, one can buy this anywhere. Keep it up do not stop before the time is up or you will not kill all of the bugs....

Ear mites can cause lose of hearing. Behavior problems. Just think if you had bugs in your ears crawling around and eating up the canal how you would feel, ouch!!
