Have you realized this about women in the "dog fancy"?

Disclaimer! This in NO way is intended as an insult, merely an OBSERVATION!

Have you noticed that most women who are into dogs are average-bodied/heavily built, blonde/brown-haired, and American?

This in no way is an insult, just MY observation.

What do you think?

[Btw, I have black hair and have a normal build.]

[For the people who are gonna say "Who cares?", this is an opinion question, and yes, it does have to do with dogs. :)]

I'm blonde and petite. Of course the blonde does come from a bottle to cover the few silver highlights........... Does that count? Not everyone who likes dogs is short, chubby, and brown.

Have you realized this about women in the "dog fancy"?

its not true, magazines just like to photograph blondes for some reason

Have you realized this about women in the "dog fancy"?

Average built and heavy built.. brown haired and blonde haired.. seems like you covered most women there. Not a lot of redheads around...

Perhaps that's because dogs offer unconditional love? Maybe people who are depressed or lonely, and happen to be overweight are attracted to the unconditional love that dogs offer?

I'm not American

I'm brunette

I'm average build - lighter side and shorter than some

... That's never been my observation and I see women and dogs every day.

Have you realized this about women in the "dog fancy"?

you know that might be true but everyone i bet when they were little(blonde or not,) wanted a dog or a puppie. So it is really just the way you look at things

Have you realized this about women in the "dog fancy"?

hmm... never noticed. I'll have to go through my magazines now. However, the women at the rescue group I volunteer for are all thin...(including myself).... every hair color, even multi-color hair!

But maybe that is just because we are in Los Angeles!

Well, not to be politically incorrect, but as a groomer, and having worked with vets, breeders, groomers, pet owners, etc., I'd have to say that description fits the vast majority of people who own/work with dogs. They tend to be "average" looking Caucasian women. Perhaps Dog Fancy has just skipped over the 'token minority' trend and focused on the fact that most of it's readers will probably look like the women they feature.

I have to say, I'm one of those people average/brown hair lol...but I've seen other builds and red, gray, white, black, and etc. haired people be into dogs, and have seen lots of men into dogs.

Have you realized this about women in the "dog fancy"?

That describes a good portion of women.

Blonde/Brown hair?? Red heads are the minority. And caucasions are the majority.

For the record, I have long brown hair, but I'm very tall and very slim.

Do you have stats on our eye colors, too?

i think it's all about culture, growing up as a child you get into things your parents are interested in.. and the dog clubs started out with Americans. Although America is a melting pot of cultures, we're still the majority and our parents point us in that direction, unlike theirs.

No. I actually have red hair, used to have a body to die for when I was young, and was a size 0 when I got married.

What is your point?
