When my cat and dog play together...?

I have a male cat and a male dog, when they play together sometimes my 1 year old dog will pull my cat around by the fur on the back of his neck. My cat doesn't care! Why doesn't he cry or meow or something? He just let's the dog do it until he gets bored and then paws him to let him know he is tired of playing, then he comes and cuddles with us or gets on his cat tree...but he has some small scabs on the back of his neck and some hair missing. Should I be worried? I mean the cat doesn't care. But should I do something if I can?

don`t worry be worry with that maybe the cat is used to that like a mother cat carrying its kitten maybe that`s the dog is thinking too,just don`t let your dog hurt your cat

Cat's mothers pick them up by the back of their necks as babies, it releases soothing endorphins and relaxes the cat. Vets also do this often when handling a cat.

I have a lerge young dog and an old cat and the cats the boss. My friend had a bull terrier 7yr old and brought in a male kitten the kittens the boss. Your cat is quite happy with this arrangement or the dog would get a stern warning from the cat. However when you go out maybe shut them in a different room for each other if you are not happy with this. Teach your dog not to do this with the cat by teaching it the comand leave as part of its training program which all young dogs should have. This is a young dog he will not play with the cat as much the older he gets.

It's nothing to worry about. The dog's just acting like a parent carrying a pup around. If you're worried keep an eye out, but it seems as though the cat has it under control.

My dog when I was little used to carry our cat around the yard by the head, but she was so gentle about it that the cat didn't mind at all :)
