Lump on my dog (going to the vet friday)?

My dog has had a small lump of skin located on the rear of his back that has been growing very slowly over the past few months. It started out about the size of a pea. Now its about the size of a penny. It is not a tick. It has skin around it thats flaky and it has hairs growing out of it. It is movable in every which way and it is attached to his skin underneath. Also he dosen't pay attention to it...no pain at all when I move it. He hasn't even noticed it.

He is 120 lb, 5 year old pure bred Rottweiler. I am guessing its some sort of cyst. Possiblly a fatty cyst. Any vet techs or vets out there that could give me a clue or anyone that has experienced this? He is scheduled for an appointment Friday morning.

My ole gal used to have a lump also but it was under the skin. She got it when she was about eight. The vet told me that as long as it moves around it is ok. She lived until 13 and never experienced any issues with it and nor did she die from this. She had what the vet called skin tags by her tets also which look similar to your picture. Same statement from the vet. No issue.

My new gal has one too under the skin. She got it when she was 7. She doesn't have any of the skin tags yet though.

I would be interested to know if this is a rottie thing to get. I have talked with breeders and no one seems to know.

Whoa. Go to the vet now! Don't wait till friday, a lot can happen, i don't know about your vet but at mine you can go anytime! Just go now, it can be a tumor or worms. Or a diseas, you don't want to risk getting it yourself, i think oyu should go now! Or at least tomorrow!

It is some sort of mass.

The absolute best thing to do is have it removed. That was it does not get any bigger and if it happens to be cancerous then it is off the dog.

I'm a dog groomer and I come into contact with things like that all the time. I also used to own a rottie. It is more that likely just a wart or a skin tag. I would still have the vet give the dog a once over. Good luck!
