My dog is a mutt, part dalmation and part unknown, how can I find out what she is mixed with?

I know know she is a dalmatian, she has spots and her mom was a dalmatian, don't know what the dad was, she person i got her from said lab, but my vet said she wasn't lab. She has ears like a lab, I don't know what other dogs have those same kind of ears. She has a strong tail with little hair hanging off horizontally.

The Today Show did a report on DNA testing for dogs. You might want to check their website!

I hate to tell you but there is absolutely no way of evr finding out. There is no type of test or anything.

They are called a heinz 57

does it really matter what the dog is as long as it loves you and you love it? if you really want to know you can go to a dog specialist.

Visit the AKC web site and look at pics of various dogs until you find one with similar looks. You may not find out what the other half is but does it really matter? As long as she is happy and healthy and taken care of-that's all that is important.

Without a DNA test there is no clear way of determining what other breed your dog may have in her.

Ears like a Lab yet you have hair hanging off the tail I might consider the other half might be a golden retreiver or you might just have the cross of a Dalmation and another mutt at which point it would be extremely hard to determine the breed.

Anytime you see black on a tongue of a dog, this generally means there is some Chow in the dog but other than that, trying to figure out a mutt is extremely hard to do.

One of my dogs came from a Cocker mix female but has short hair, golden greenish eyes and a very light brown nose which makes me think of Weimerimer but my vet says that my dog is a shepherd mix. . . all in all I don't really care, she's my dog,is a good, smart ,gentle natured playful dog and I love her anyway and sometimes this is all we know about the breed of dog we have and all in all. . . that's all we need to know because the fact that she is my dog makes her special.

The most inexpensive (but non-conclusive) way is to just look at different breeds (you cans view many at http://www.akc.org/) and compare different breed characteristics to those you see in your own pup. But did you know that you can now get dogs' DNA tested to see what breeds they are composed of? Here's a website: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/con... You can apparently get this done for $65. I think it's pretty amazing that science can do this for us now!
