Chihuahua Hair loss Problem? Please help?

My boss has a 2 to 3 year old chihuahua and just today we noticed that she was shedding like crazy I mean literally hair everywere he said that this was the first time this happened .. Is this normal with shorth haired dogs? what could be the problem. .. she seems to have some dryness on her neck and her head hair looks thinner.. what can we do to help her? she is perfectly Healthy I think she might be depressed..

If this is sudden then take to vet.

If weather where you are is very warm/hot, then may be too warm for Chi.

If in particular areas could be parasites

If change in food/diet, could be a food allergy.

Is dog itchy/scratching? (then could poss. be the 2 above).

If there are hairless spots I might take him in to the vet.

Our baby had mites and while we couldn't see them it caused her legs and neck to go totally bald. Treatment was done on her and us and she was fine.

She could also be depressed, either way I'd seek a vet's help.

They are so tiny and often have frail systems.

You should take her to the vet, only he can tell you if there is a medical problem or is it( stress), though not likely.

I would take the dog to the vet. I've also heard that as chihuahuas get older they lose their hair, something about getting a certain non-life threatening condition that makes their hair come out.

I'd go with the vet though!

he should take her to the vet.. hair loss could be caused by any number of things.

Unfortunantly, Chis are a breed that are prone to alopecia.. it is sometimes color-linked to diluted colors. There is nothing that can be done if that is the reason.

I don't think that she has i problem cause short hair chihuahua don't have i lot of hair specialy not on their ears or neck.
