my dog tends to lick me ... a lot. she licks me on my leg, thigh, arms, face, hair and toes. is this normal??? she does this all the time...

And its the only way to keep her still when i try to groom her.

She is only doing it because you let her do it. She also uses her tongue as her toilet paper. Lovely!

Buy her a salt lick. It's a solid block you can get from pet stores. She can lick that instead. Licking is an appeasement gesture; it's done to curry favour, to suck up and gain points. It's not because she loves you, it's because she's offering to clean the bits you can't reach yourself. Don't let her lick kids, even if you let her lick you; it's unhealthy and bad mannered.

i would get her a chew toy thats rubber or hard so she can lick that mabey if it has a taste it will atracter her. but thats normal i think

I have a 6 month old maltese named Lucy. Her hobby is licking people. Just two days ago I was sitting watching TV and I was really into it, and then allof a sudden i looked down and she was licking my feet! She always licks me and sometimes it gets kind of annoying. Yes it's normal but make sure that you dont have any lotion or perfume or and substances on you that your dog will lick because its bad for the dog. Good Luck.

my friends dog licks it is a way of saying i am sorry for something she thinks she is doing somthing wrong if you watch wolf packs or dog packs the subordanits lick the face of the alpha dog witch is what she is doing to you

yes! I have a 10 mo. old pit bull. She loves to lick people. I think that she is attracted to the taste of salt in sweat!

You think you have problems? We have a crazy Mutt that licks us and everything else. He'll lick the walls, floor, carpet, furniture and even the TV. But all in all, sounds like you have a normal pooch there.

licking is a dogs way of telling u she is sorry and it is a sign of humility when she starts to lick u tell her no and pop her with a loosely rolled newspaper on her hindquarters it doesn't hurt her but the noise will startle her a bit dont hit her hard just enough to make a noise

Yes it's normal. I think it's there way of telling you that they like you, and if it bothers you to much just talk to her guess, you'll have to be a dog whisper. My dog does the same thing to me. Especially if I've been gone all day he wags his tail and licks my legs.

I once heard that dogs excessively lick people because they have a salt defficiency. I've also heard that do it because they consider you part of their pack. My dog does it because I trained her to lick me instead of bite me so sometimes I get really aggressively licked when she is mad at me!

sometimes it depends on the breed of dog. My boxer licks like crazy but my pit bull almost never licks. So..could be he type of dog.
