A cat friend or a dog friend for my cat..?

I have a 4 year old neutered American short hair. He's very calm, loving %26amp; gets along well with our 3 other dogs. 2 Chihuahua's %26amp; a poodle. Prince ( our cat ) was the 3rd member to join our family. He occasionally plays hunt, hide %26amp; seek with the poodle. He loves to groom the poodle %26amp; the long hair Chihuahua. If he gets bored he'll go wild and start playing chase with the poodle. Sometimes he does get a little carried away, he'll wrestle the dogs %26amp; start to bite them. They've not injured anything but sometimes, there'll be some bite marks on the poodle's back and stomach. So, I was wondering should I get a cat friend for him. He really does look bored being the only cat in the house.

most animals from different species only get along with each other when they meet at very young ages. getting a dog might be a good idea, but if you get a cat make sure your dogs wont hurt him. if you get a cat, make sure its the opposite gender of your cat, and make sure its neutered. two males will fight more often then two females.

I say a dog because if you get a new cat, it might not get along well with dogs.

wow, all those pets, that sounds like a lot of vet bills! But I bet it's a lot of fun!

Sounds like you have it made already though. He might go crazy with another feline in the house. They like their own turf and it sounds like kitty has enough playmates.

I say a cat. If your cat seems bored you should get another cat for it to play around with

No..I don't think so in this case..Cats get jealous sometimes...Since the cat has other things to play with (dogs, etc.) He probaby would not handle another cat...

If there are already other dogs, I'd say try another neutered male cat. Try and find an adult shelter cat that has lived successfully with both cats and dogs before. Male cats seem to get along best with other male cats, especially when they are neutered and not competing for females. Females are often annoyed by male cats even neutered ones.

He sounds like a fun cat! If you're willing to accept the resposibility and work of another pet, then go right ahead and get another DOG. If you get another cat, he will most likely not get along with these dogs and this hyper cat, and they might treat him like another dog- meaning the fights and chases, which he would not be used to. It's too bad that your cat seems bored- get him a laser gun; my cats llove to chase those.

I say a cat. It does not matter if it is a girl or boy as long as it is fixed. I think the cat would be on more equal terms with another cat and they can talk to each other, where who know if cats understand dogs.
