I need dog help?

3 weeks ago, we put a flea treatment thing on my toy poodle. the medicine was like k9 advantage, but it wasnt that. ok well, on the box it said for dogs 16-30 lbs, and we didnt read that part. so we put it on, and she kept on scratching. the next day she scratched so much that her hair fell off, and now she has a bald spot. we took her to the vet, and they examined her, the vet said that her hair will grow back, but it'll take time. but until now, he hair hasnt grown that much. does anyone know how long itll take for it to grow back out fully?

It'll take a few months. My dog was shaved when she was spayed and it took about 4 months for her hair to grow back. She was also bit on the jowl about a month ago, and her hair still has not grown back from that. But that is partly because the hair itches as it comes back in (like what can be experienced with a beard or hair growing back on someones legs). So she scratches at it some more...

A couple of weeks, maybe a month at the most. I'm not entirely sure though my cousin had a short-haired medium beagle/german shepherd cross that had to be shaved (little spots everywhere lol) for hot spots and the hair grew back within about a month. However I don't know how long their hair was and my cousin's dog may be different so there is my 2 cents worth.

I know a dog who had surgery and they have to shave all of her hair off. It grew back in two or three months but no more than that. it was about and inch and a half of hair.

Its only been 3 weeks - dogs hair is usually very fine so it will take some time ( up to 6 months to look like it did before especially if it is a long haired dog).

Next time (as with human medicines) read the box very carefully, medicine overdoses can kill.

The medicine usually takes 3-4 days to completely soak into the skin, expect the hair to grow back in a few weeks-a month.

you are talking about K-9 advantix which has been linked to glaucoma %26amp; seizures in some dogs.

It took about six months for my dog's hair to grow back after the vet shaved around a lick sore.

  1. Be careful with what manufacturers say recommended dosage is for size of animals, keeps grass short or weeds trimmed(or pulled) because that attracts fleas. I let the weedy grass get too high right by front door and I kept itching, landscaper friend said bushing past that even with pants on is what brings fleas and gnats into house. Yuck, when I run out of weed eater string I use a box cutter to trim them away from foot path. Also time of day may play a part in when dog picks up fleas. Spread salt all over rugs to kill the little blighters. Vacuum up next day, then spread salt again till they die of dehydration.
